30. 1992 - Ricky Steamboat

Not particularly à la mode - a character archetype like Ricky Steamboat was unfashionable by 1992, it just took the professional wrestling industry four years to work it out - it was still suitably majestic.

Deeply 1980s in the most phenomenal way, the intro predated the 'sting' but conveyed something like it, nonetheless: it was the grandiose sound of an impeccable and incredibly skilled human being en route to provide the audience with an epic performance of honour and technical greatness.

Big time in a rinky-dink second-rate promotion, Steamboat's inherent gravitas was such that he spared himself the embarrassment.

This theme was the man represented in musical form: a masterpiece.
