As covered on Thursday, Cesaro has left WWE, declining the promotion's offered contract extension before departing at the end of his previous deal. Thus ended an 11-year run with the market leaders.

Per Fightful Select, who corroborated and expanded upon PWInsider's original report on the matter, Cesaro did not mention a specific reason for leaving WWE when saying goodbye to his peers and colleagues. Some of the outlet's sources did mention, however, that the 41-year-old felt "reasonable disappointment" for how he had been used in WWE, as well the things he had missed out on, usage-wise.

This is believed to be a relatively amicable split, with Fightful noting that WWE's door isn't "completely closed" to Cesaro.

Signed by WWE in 2011, should Cesaro opt against re-signing, it's likely that he will be remembered as one of the period's most under-utilised wrestlers. The clamour for him to be pushed at a level closer to his world-class in-ring talents peaked in 2016, when the Sezarro Section took off, and though the clamour had fallen off in recent years, it still remained.

As Cesaro left WWE at the end of his contract rather than being released, he isn't bound to a non-compete clause.
