William Regal appears to be on his way out of AEW and back to WWE, the company whose previous regime released him back in January - and another potential reason for this has just come to light.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws show, former WWE star EC3 has suggested that a maturity issue at managerial level led to Regal feeling instant regret upon signing with AEW:-

“When he went over to AEW, the word was, he said, ‘I immediately regret this decision, there’s very much a maturity issue here within management.'"

A pinch of salt should absolutely be taken here. Nonetheless, Regal does appear to be done with AEW, having been brutally assaulted by MJF on last week's Dynamite, effectively writing him off television.

Current reporting points towards the Englishman departing Tony Khan's promotion for WWE at the end of the year. It is believed that Regal will return to WWE in a backstage role.

Regal was a WWE employee for over 20 years prior to disgraced former Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon releasing him in January. William is known to enjoy a strong personal and professional relationship with Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, who has ascended in power since McMahon's July resignation, returning to his old Executive Vice President position and becoming WWE's head of creative.
