Real Reason Sting Is Wrestling The Young Bucks In Final AEW Match
Backstage update on how Sting's Revolution 2024 swan song came together.
This week's episode of Dynamite saw The Young Bucks emerge as likely opponents for Sting (and Darby Allin) in the wrestling legend's final AEW match - and the Stinger himself had a "major say" in proceedings.
Fightful Select reports that the 64-year-old had a big hand in his opponents for Revolution 2024, where the icon will draw the curtain on a 38-year wrestling career.
Sting had been keen to work a tag team bout rather than a singles clash. He has indicated this throughout his AEW run, and now, with Matt and Nick Jackson back on television, AEW's active plan is for Sting and Allin to face the Bucks at Revolution.
It is important to AEW founder and CEO Tony Khan that Sting gets the "right send-off" for his career, with the company looking to make whatever Sting wants to happen happen throughout his last run.
AEW Revolution 2024 takes place in Greensboro, North Carolina's Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday, 3 March. Sting's farewell bout is the only thing to be announced for the pay-per-view so far. Thus far, the match has been a major ticket-mover, with AEW selling 15,314 of the 15,443 tickets made available by the last count:
