Report: AEW Plan On Having Sting Wrestle
AEW expects Sting to wrestle - just don't expect regular Dynamite matches...
All Elite Wrestling expects to eventually have Sting wrestle for the promotion, though his advanced age and physical condition mean he won't become a regular weekly competitor.
This is according to a new report from SI's Justin Barrasso. Per the writeup, Sting could be used in cinematic and tag matches, as well as "carefully designed spots that allow Sting to shine while also building those around him into even bigger stars." AEW's primary goal with him is to take full advantage of his legendary status and big name in professional wrestling.
As pointed out last week, Sting is currently listed on AEW's active roster. Other managers, like Taz, are not. One of the promotion's biggest names is already teasing a dream match with the 61-year-old.
Sting's debut at Winter Is Coming last week was extremely well-received. The WCW 'Icon' arrived to interrupt Team Taz during a beatdown of Darby Allin and various Nightmare Family members, including Cody Rhodes, who classes Sting as his favourite wrestler.
This week's Dynamite will see Sting speak in AEW for the first time, as he conducts an interview with his old WCW cohort, Tony Schiavone.
