Report: Apollo Crews Missed WWE Extreme Rules Due To COVID-19
United States title forfeited to MVP.
Apollo Crews missed his United States Championship defence against MVP at last night's 'The Horror Show at Extreme Rules', with a failed physical being cited by the commentators as the reason for his absence.
The reality is much more concerning. According to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, speaking on the post-show episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Crews is currently out of action following a positive coronavirus test.
The incumbent champ has not made an appearance for the company since the 27 June episode of Raw, and has since missed two sets of TV tapings and last night's pay-per-view. Meltzer further said that WWE had concerns about Crews' health before his positive test, and had kept him off television as a precaution.
No official word has been released from either Crews or WWE about his current status.
In lieu of the contender, MVP christened himself United States Champion, legitimising the new belt he unveiled on Raw last week. Future plans for this programme are obviously up in the air, and there is currently no news on the direction WWE will take.
