Unless you've been living under a rock the past week, former WWE superstar Cesaro is front and center in the rumor mill.

On AEW Dynamite Wednesday night, Bryan Danielson announced that he is not medically cleared to compete against Zack Sabre Jr. at the Forbidden Door PPV on Sunday or Blood & Guts on the upcoming episode of Dynamite. He did however announce that a replacement for both matches has been found and is the only person he'd trust to fill both spots.

Almost immediately Claudio Castagnoli jumped to the top of many people's lists of the person who best fits that description. If it is indeed him, it would also play on Danielson's relationship with Cesaro in their waning days in WWE. Claudio departed WWE in February when his contract expired. Despite being a free agent immediately, he hasn't popped up in a promotion since then, despite interest from several companies.

Fightful Select reports that despite the lack of ring presence, Claudio has been in the ring recently, training at Flatbacks in Orlando, Florida multiple times during the past several weeks. The outlet has not confirmed whether Castagnoli will be ZSJ's mystery opponent at Forbidden Door, but he's definitely getting some reps in in the ring.

Since leaving WWE, Claudio has launched his own coffee, and most recently, posted about preparing for a powerlifting meet.
