Report: CM Punk Had ANOTHER AEW Backstage Confrontation With Who?
News surfaces about 2022 scuffle with debuting star Punk didn't trust.
As if CM Punk's backstage brawls with the Elite and Jack Perry weren't enough, it turns out there might be more skeleton's in the former AEW wrestler's closet.
Bodyslam.net reports that Punk apparently had a confrontation last year with former onscreen talent and Blackpool Combat Club founder William Regal when the legend debuted at AEW Revolution, where Punk defeated MJF in their acclaimed dog collar match.
According to multiple sources, the altercation involved Punk refusing to shake Regal's hand, getting in the villain's face and telling him that he didn't like or trust him, and that he was a "stooge for Triple H." There has been no indication of whether Regal replied in kind or if things got physical at all.
Regal has been friends with WWE's Chief Content Officer for decades and served as his right-hand man in NXT, overseeing the training of talent for the developmental brand. He was released in January 2022 and turned up in AEW two months later, aligning with Jon Moxley and Daniel Bryan to form the BCC.
Punk likely has no love lost for Triple H after his fiery and public departure from WWE in 2014, leaving wrestling altogether for more than seven years before joining AEW in 2021.
Regal would leave AEW by the end of 2022, returning to NXT to work with his son, who wrestles as Charlie Dempsey.
Given how volatile Punk is, there's probably a decent chance this isn't the last story that surfaces about the mercurial wrestler being involved in some heated backstage scuffle with someone. Now that he's gone from AEW, people might feel a bit freer to speak up.
