Report: No Plans For Oba Femi On WWE's Main Roster (WWE News)
Fallen NXT Champion might not be called up to WWE Raw or SmackDown after all.
Popular developmental breakout star Oba Femi lost his NXT Title to Ricky Saints at the brand's No Mercy show on 27 September. Logically, this would signal that Femi is moving on from NXT towards a beefier role on either Raw or SmackDown soon, but fresh reports suggest that might not be the case after all.
The Wrestling Observer claims that Triple H plans to keep Oba exactly where he is for the time being. Current booking calls for Femi to play a significant role on the third brand heading into the final 3 months of 2025. Beyond that, who knows? It seems only a matter of time before Shawn Michaels gives his old D-Generation X cohort a call and says, 'It's time, Hunter'.
Of course, as The Observer noted, WWE does sometimes send out reports like this from sources to mislead the media. So, in other words, there is always a chance that they're muddying the waters so Oba's arrival on one of the top shows comes as a complete surprise. Not many wrestling fans would be mad at that given his excellent run on NXT.
Dave Meltzer described this as the company's bid to leave everyone "blindsided". It's smart, because it keeps the media guessing and creates chatter on social media about certain stars. Some will be excited by the prospect of Femi making an impact on the flagship or Friday night shows in coming months.
However, it doesn't appear to be a concrete plan as things stand. WWE is happy to keep Oba on the NXT roster and follow on from his title loss to Saints at No Mercy.
