People within WWE had shown interest in signing Moose prior to the IMPACT Wrestling star re-signing with his home promotion, reports Fightful Select.

Fightful's sources have indicated that WWE were hopeful of the 37-year-old bypassing NXT and heading to the main roster immediately. WWE never had the chance to negotiate with him, however, as IMPACT made what the report describes as "a huge play" to keep its former Grand and TNA World Heavyweight Champion before he was legally free to talk to other promotions.

Moose re-signed with IMPACT in June, inking a two-year deal lasting until summer 2023. Fightful noted there was interest in the big man from other promotions at the time.

Moose has been a professional wrestler since he started training in 2012, transitioning to the sport following a six-year NFL career. Breaking out in Ring of Honor between 2014 and 2016, he was signed by IMPACT in July 2016 and has been with the promotion ever since, working his way towards a regular position near the top of the upper midcard.

12 June brought one of Moose's biggest IMPACT moments to date, as he headlined Against All Odds 2021 opposite World Champion Kenny Omega.
