The Forgotten Sons were reportedly in line for a WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship run prior to the Jaxson Ryker tweet that saw the trio removed from television.

This is according to Dave Meltzer, who broke the story on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. He stated that the Forgotten Sons' feud with The New Day would have concluded with them winning the gold, though Ryker's gaffe saw WWE switch gears, going for Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro as heel champions instead.

Ryker sparked controversy following a tweet praising Donald Trump in June. It came during a period of heightened social unrest in the United States, leading to Kevin Owens, Mustafa Ali, and other WWE wrestlers speaking out against Jaxson for using a tense situation to promote a "sh*tty wrestling catchphrase." Even Ryker's partners (Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler) publically distanced themselves from him in the wake of it - as did his sister.

No Forgotten Sons member has appeared on television since then. It was reported later in the month that the trio were set to be repackaged, though there hasn't been any follow-up on this. For now, they're on ice, thanks to Ryker's inability to engage his brain before tweeting.
