Report: WWE Discussed New Role For Mickie James Return
Per this report, WWE TV almost became 'Hardcore Country' again...
Nick Aldis was installed as WWE SmackDown General Manager last week - and WWE had reportedly considered the idea of utilising his wife, company legend Mickie James, in a similar role.
WrestleVotes has reported as much, noting that WWE had held discussions on whether or not James would be interested in occupying a co-GM position with Aldis. For now, however, this doesn't appear to be on the cards.
Per the insider account:
Rumors of Nick Aldis debuting tonight on SmackDown as a new GM. Source states that within the last month there were discussions and ideas thrown around to see if Aldis’ wife Mickie James would be interested in such a role as “Co-GMs”. This doesn’t look to be happening though.
Aldis ended up being introduced as the SmackDown GM by Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, with Adam Pearce becoming his Raw counterpart. Whether or not James would have occupied Pearce's new role or served on SmackDown with Nick is unclear.
Although James has not been contracted to WWE since April 2021, she last appeared for the promotion in the 2022 women's Royal Rumble, where she was acknowledged as IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion.
