Report: WWE High On Top Tag Wrestler For Monster Singles Push
Is WWE about to turn this wrestler from tag team standout to major singles star?
Montez Ford may soon be the subject of a major singles push in WWE.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, company officials are "very high" on the Street Profits man at the moment, particularly in the wake of his recent physical transformation. This is why the promotion has been teasing a split between Ford and long-time partner Angelo Dawkins lately - and also partly explains WWE announcers putting Montez's new physique over on programming.
The Usos have been attempting to spread discontent within the Profits lately, bringing up rumours that the duo no longer get along. At Money In The Bank 2022 (2 July), where The Usos defeated Ford and Dawkins, WWE teased friction within the defeated tandem, who looked awkward in each other's company as they walked to the back after a disputed finish.
The Street Profits have been a televised act since the 12 July 2017 episode of NXT, though they had been teaming together on the developmental house show circuit for over a year prior to this. Dawkins and Ford have notched runs as SmackDown, Raw, NXT, and Evolve Tag Team Champions during their successful run together.
Ford has long been touted as a potential breakout singles star. It'll be interesting to see if more comes of this on tonight's episode of Raw, as the fallout from MITB begins.
