Report: WWE 'It Begins' Promo Refers To Chris Jericho Return

By Matt Holmes /

PWInsider reports that the recent rumours of talks between WWE and Chris Jericho collapsing are somewhat smoke and mirrors and the teasing 'It Begins' promo that aired on RAW hyping a superstar's return on January 2nd, 2012 does in fact refer to Y2J. Yesterday we reported that fans were speculating two names the loudest in regards to who the promo was refering to, The Undertaker or Chris Jericho. Because Jericho has gone on Twitter twice to denounce a return to the company... once a couple of weeks ago saying he would never wrestle for them again and one just this week when he said he would be working in Hawaii come January 2nd... and because reports of the talks between WWE/Jericho collapsing... we had almost ruled him out but that doesn't seem to be the case. PWInsider says the deal between WWE and Jericho isn't quite signed and sealed just yet but Vince McMahon is so certain of getting his man that he wanted to get that promo hyping his return out early. WWE is said to want Jericho on the RAW brand as a ratings boost and I wouldn't be surprised quite frankly if he lands himself straight into a feud with CM Punk over the title and perhaps wins the Royal Rumble to face him at Wrestlemania 28. If you look at the RAW Brand there isn't many other candidates to face Punk. The Punk/Del Rio program will probably end at TLC PPV, John Cena is already booked in to a battle with The Rock, which leaves The Miz (who I wouldn't be surprised if he defeats Cena in a No. 1 contender's match at TLC to face Punk at the Rumble) but he isn't booked as Wrestlemania main event material but more of a lead-in to a bigger program with someone else, Sheamus but he's a face right now, same goes for Randy Orton on SmackDown if he was to be transfered over. The Undertaker is another possibility but unlikely. There has been talk of a Punk vs Austin match but if Stone Cold does make a return to the ring, they would probably save that for next year as they already have a huge buyrate with The Rock for this April's event.
