Report: WWE Tag Teams Learned They'd Be Split Up On Social Media
New details on how the WWE Draft 2021 worked for certain split tag teams...
Several WWE tag teams learned that the company would be splitting them up in this month's 2021 Draft through social media, reports Fightful Select.
The writeup states that there was a push within the promotion for certain tandems to be kept together. None of these had any impact other than that for AJ Styles and Omos, who, as previously reported, were almost sent to separate brands.
Styles and Omos ended up being drafted to stay on Raw together. Per WrestleVotes, some people within the company didn't believe that Omos was ready for a singles push at the time of the Draft.
The Fightful Select report also notes that people had questioned the value of drafting tag team wrestlers as individuals, rather than a duo. They were told that this wasn't important.
Four tag teams were split up through the WWE Draft on 1 and 4 October, with Veer and Shanky (previously a trio with Jinder Mahal), Natalya and Tamina, Tegan Nox and Shotzi, and T-Bar and Mace all going their separate ways. That's a lot, even for a company that often splits teams out of the blue during its roster reshuffles.
