Report: WWE's Latest Return Will Bring Wrestler Back From The Dead
Triple H masters the art of reanimation for WWE's next big return.
Eric Young was killed off in an IMPACT Wrestling farewell last night - but it looks like his WWE career is about to be brought back from the dead.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that Young, a former IMPACT World Champion, is heading back to WWE. Multiple sources have confirmed this, though there is currently no word on when, exactly, EY will be back on WWE television.
The former Sanity leader's imminent WWE comeback is likely tied to Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, who was responsible for bringing Eric to the promotion the first time around, in 2016. Levesque ascended to power as WWE's head of creative in July 2022, doing so in the wake of disgraced former Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon's resignation. The former NXT chief has since presided over a number of big-time returns from wrestlers released under the previous regime.
Now, Young looks set to become the latest. His WWE release came as part of the company's first round of pandemic-related sackings in April 2020, which were attributed to "budget cuts" during a period of unparalleled financial prosperity for WWE.
Eric was back in IMPACT, the promotion he left in 2016, three months later. He has since enjoyed an IMPACT World Championship reign, having spent the past couple of years largely leading his Violent by Design stable.
On last night's IMPACT!, Young was stabbed to death by former ally Deaner, who put EY down in cinematic fashion. IMPACT had filmed the vignette in secret prior to Young's departure.
