Revealed: WWE's Plans For Jeff Hardy Before His Release
Here's what WWE had in mind for Jeff Hardy before releasing him last month.
Jeff Hardy was due to show up in NXT 2.0 prior to being released by WWE in December 2021.
This is according to Fightful Select, whose report states that Hardy was going to be unveiled as MSK's shaman on the Tuesday night show. As Hardy was cut from the roster a few days prior to this, Riddle was installed as his replacement, with the current Raw Tag Team Champion apparently rushing to film content for the long-running MSK storyline.
WWE had come up with several different shaman segments for Hardy, though there's no word on whether or not he would have teamed with MSK to face Imperium at New Year's Evil last night, as was the case for Riddle.
On top of the NXT 2.0 plans, WWE also had a lot of main roster content in mind for Hardy until January.
Officially let go by WWE on 9 December, Hardy is bound to a standard 90-day non-compete clause preventing him from signing or appearing for other wrestling promotions until February. His release preceded him walking out on a house show bout the previous weekend - and came with a report stating he had turned down WWE's offer of rehab prior to being cut.
