Rey Mysterio Gets HUGE WrestleMania 34 Match?
If these rumours are true, 'Mania will be massive for Rey Rey...
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated is reporting that Rey Mysterio is currently pencilled in to face John Cena at WrestleMania 34.
Rey was backstage at the SmackDown house show in San Diego (his hometown) on Monday for talks, and those continued at Tuesday's TV taping in Los Angeles. The discussions revolved around Mysterio's involvement at 'Mania.
The same night, Cena returned to SmackDown, beat AJ Styles in the main event and became part of the WWE Title match at Fastlane. If Barrasso's reports are accurate, Cena will lose at Fastlane and quickly go on to schedule an emergency match against Mysterio.
This would be a major spot for Rey in New Orleans. Cena has been heavily linked with facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania, so it'd be quite the feather in Mysterio's cap if he was deemed a suitable replacement for such a dream match.
It's worth noting that Cena and Mysterio last wrestled on the 25 July 2011 episode of Raw. Back then, amidst all of the CM Punk "Pipe Bomb Promo" and walk out controversy, Cena beat Rey to capture the vacant WWE Title.
