Rey Mysterio is set for a WWE return that will see him working from now until WrestleMania 31, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The out of action superstar had met with Vince McMahon at the 11/3 show in Buffalo. The backstage discussion was over Mysterio's continued absence. Vince McMahon made it clear that he wanted Rey to return to action, but the wrestler maintained his stance that he wants away. However, to get away, he owes WWE some dates first. Nothing definitive came from the meeting, but from WWE's standpoint, they believe he'll be back soon and working regularly in the run-up to WrestleMania 31. Presumably he will wrestle at Mania and then leave the WWE later in 2015. His contract is said to expire in April. The return looks set, as creative have now been told to start brainstorming ideas. One concern is that WWE are wanting more dates than is advisable for a body as beat-up as Rey's. A compromise will likely be reached, as there's no way the 39 year old can sustain a full schedule. Vince McMahon was the main man in Rey's discussions. He was fully running the show and calling the shots. Some had thought that Triple H was taking more responsibility, but Vince is very much the big man still when it comes down to it. At 69 years of age, the Chairman shows no signs of slowing down. Whether or not Mysterio has been convinced to return, we will soon found out. Even past his peak, he's still a talented worker, it will be fun to see him again.
