Veteran WWE star Rey Mysterio has told TV Insider that he'd be prepared to put his iconic mask on the line against Andrade's hair, in a lucha de apuesta match at WrestleMania 36.

The former World Heavyweight champ explained:

"I think the goal right now ā€” after [Monday's] outcome in the Andrade ladder match ā€” I think something along the ways that if he wants to keep feuding and going a step further, Iā€™m willing to put my mask on the line versus his hair for a WrestleMania moment."

As both lucha libre stars know, losing one's mask is the ultimate insult - and therefore, the ultimate gamble. Perhaps the stakes are a little less dramatic when you consider that Rey Mysterio - and Andrade, for that matter - have both previously lost their masks (Andrade used to compete under a hood as La Sombra in CMLL and NJPW).

Indeed, Mysterio incited outrage in Mexico by putting his back on, when he signed for WWE.

Nevertheless, he continued:

"Whatever the case might be, whoever ends up winning, I think it would be a huge stepping stone for either of us."

Even if the pathos of the stipulation is a bit contrived in 2020, a lengthy match at WrestleMania would promise to be an absolute riot. Let's hope it happens.
