Ricochet Will NOT Be In WWE's Global Cruiserweight Series
New Japan star shoots down speculation on Twitter.
For weeks, rumors have been circulating that New Japan/independent star Ricochet (who competes in Lucha Underground as Prince Puma) will be signing with WWE imminently and taking part in the company's upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series tournament.
Early Monday, the world's best high-flyer took to Twitter to set the record straight.
"Okay, guys listen," Ricochet tweeted. "I will NOT be in the Global Cruiserweight Tournament. One reason, I'll be in Japan winning BOSJ. Again."
With his breathtaking ability and star charisma, getting Ricochet for the GCS (or for NXT) would be a major coup for WWE. Nevertheless, the star seems devoted to New Japan Pro Wrestling for the time being. He won the company's round-robin Best of the Super Juniors tournament in 2014 and challenged then-IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Kota Ibushi. The match was a high-speed classic, but Ricochet was unable to capture the title.
Given Ricochet's high demand, common sense would dictate that New Japan push the star hard as long as they have him. If he's willing to commit to the company in the long-term, he'd make an excellent choice to win this year's BOSJ, as well as the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship and the sixth Super J Cup tournament in August.
