Road Dogg: Billy Gunn "Not Happy" About Missing WWE's DX Reunion
Road Dogg claims WWE did everything it could to get AEW's Billy Gunn on board for DX anniversary.
WWE celebrated D-Generation X's 25th anniversary on the 10 October episode of Raw, with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, and Sean Waltman closing the episode via a nostalgic reunion segment.
Conspicuous by his absence was DX mainstay Billy Gunn, who currently works for AEW. Gunn was never reported to be part of the show, given his current affiliations, though his stablemates referenced him nonetheless.
Road Dogg, who is back working for WWE on a full-time basis, spoke on Billy's situation during a recent episode of his podcast, Oh... You Didn't Know. He stated that it broke his and Gunn's hearts that the latter couldn't be there, with Triple H also unhappy about the situation. According to Road Dogg, the WWE side did everything possible to try and make an appearance happen.

"It broke my heart, and I believe it broke his too. In all actuality, Hunter was not happy about it either. Shawn and X-Pac weren't either. We wanted the band, all that we could get back together. Chyna is there in spirit. That didn't happen. From what I understand, and I'm not in those inner circles anymore, and for my sanity rightfully so and thankful. I don't know the exact reason, but I was told everything that we could do was done, and we couldn't come together."
Continuing, the 53-year-old revealed that Gunn had previously told him he was "in" for the DX reunion. When it didn't work out, both he and Gunn were unhappy, though he acknowledges that WWE and AEW are in competition with each other:-
"During the day prior, I texted him, 'Hey, are you going to be able to make it? Have you found out any answers yet?' He said, 'Yes, I'm in.' I was like, 'Oh my God, that's awesome.' Literally, before I landed at home, I found out he was not in. I texted him back and he wasn't happy either. It just didn't work, no matter what. I understand. Whatever. I understand we're [AEW and WWE] not huge fans of each other from a business standpoint. It was a big deal, and I feel like he got ripped off and didn't live it with us. I'm sorry for that. I know he is too."
Gunn is currently over huge as part of The Acclaimed act on AEW television, thanks, primarily, to the "Scissor me, Daddy *ss!" phenomenon. Road Dogg, meanwhile, was appointed WWE's Senior Vice President of Live Events in August.
