Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is rumoured to be in Transformers 5, states the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The rumour in Hollywood is that Rock and Bruce Willis will star in the next movie of the series. The 2016 sequel to Age Of Extinction will see Rock replacing Mark Wahlberg as the franchise lead, after reports in September stated Wahlberg didn't want to reprise his role. It has already been announced that director Michael Bay will not be returning to the franchise, so it really could be an opportunity for major changes in the Transformers brand. The series initially started with Shia LaBeouf in the lead male role. He was largely panned by critics and fans, although the female lead Megan Fox proved more popular. Eventually fans turned on Fox as well and she didn't return for Transformers 3 Dark Of The Moon. That third instalment proved to be LaBeouf's last Transformers film. Wahlberg was introduced as the new lead character for this year's instalment. He proved to be a more fitting action star and was credited with bringing fans back to the series. The casting of Rock and Willis for a 2016 film would be inspired. Rock has a solid track record of delivering box office performances and Willis is Hollywood royalty. Both names will draw viewers to the cinema. Additionally, Rock's appeal to WWE fans means the 18 - 35 male demographic is more easily targeted. However, this could be greeted with disdain from wrestling fans. The news that Rock is undertaking yet another movie project is an indication that his wrestling days really could be over. There's a slight chance he might work at WrestleMania 31 against Triple H on March 29th 2016, but it now looks like WWE will be going with a Sting vs Triple H match instead.
