While this memory doesnt directly relate to Roddy Piper, his role in this moment was both critical and central. Pipers Pit was the backdrop of the budding Hulk Hogan-Andre the Giant feud in 1987 that would explode in what Jesse Ventura (accurately) called, the biggest match in the history of professional wrestling. It was on Pipers Pit that Hogan would be presented with a trophy for being world champion for three years, and then Andre would later be presented with a smaller trophy for being undefeated for 15 years. In two segments, the seeds were sown, it things were set to come to a head.In one of the most famous scenes in WWF/E history, Andre the Giant unveiled his new manager, Hogan nemesis Bobby The Brain Heenan, and challenged Hulk for his WWF Championship. Piper, long Hogans rival, had to play the role of calming the champ. A week later, it was Piper demanding yes or no whether Hogan would face his longtime friend at WrestleMania III. And it was Piper who got the answer out of him to set up the biggest match in the history of professional wrestling.
