Ring Of Honor will crown a new interim Women's World Champion at Supercard of Honor this week.

New owner Tony Khan announced this on Twitter on Monday. Independent wrestling standout Willow Nightingale will face the AEW-contracted Mercedes Martinez on the show, with the winner advancing to face current ROH Women's World Champion Deonna Purrazzo at a later date.

Khan's tweet states that Purrazzo is unavailable for Supercard of Honor. She is due to wrestle on IMPACT Wrestling's Multiverse of Matches show on the same evening, with the ROH and AEW chief stating last week that he didn't want to put Purrazzo in the "tough position" of having to work twice in the space of a few hours.

Deonna, who is contracted to IMPACT, will host a "champ-champ" open challenge at Multiverse of Matches on Friday (1 April). The 27-year-old currently reigns as AAA Reina de Reinas Champion as will as the head of ROH's division, having taken the newly-bought-out promotion's belt from the WWE-bound Rok-C on an IMPACT show back in January.

Purrazzo has since mounted successful ROH Women's World Title defences over six opponents, including Chelsea Green and Santana Garrett.
