Roman Reigns No Longer Scheduled For WWE Money In The Bank 2022
The Head of the Table is set to miss his THIRD consecutive Premium Live Event.
Per Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated - whose report was later confirmed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter - Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is set to miss Money In The Bank this year.
It was indicated that the decision was based on the show being downsized from the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to the MGM Grand Garden arena ("plans changed once Money in the Bank was moved").
The actual rationale behind the decision, or who made it, is less clear.
Did WWE make the decision, with the aim of casting top star Roman in the most flattering light possible - i.e. against a huge vista of stadium fans?
Or did Roman himself, leveraging his new contractual influence, opt to save his return for a major show?
Regardless, this is a sobering sign of the times. The titular matches are invariably excellent, and the show has officially sold out. This is impressive and a strong indication of business, or at least, it would scan as such if WWE hadn't mounted the failed and vastly over-ambitious stadium project to begin with.
