Rumours that Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, and the Young Bucks are on the verge of starting their own wrestling promotion provided much of this weekend's headlines, with ProWrestling.net's Jason Powell and SEScoops.com providing the spark.

The project is supposedly bankrolled by the Khan family, who own the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC of the English Premier League.

Much of Powell's speculation comes from public knowledge. He points out that the Khans, Jericho, JR, and The Elite all follow each other on social media, and that Ross and 'Y2J' share a manager. SEScoops, meanwhile, have suggested the company will launch in late 2018 with AXS TV as the platform.

The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer has since disputed this, noting that the timeframe doesn't make any sense and that no financial commitment has been made. He adds that AXS have denied the story, and that the network wouldn't make sense as a platform for a national company, particularly one with ambitions of rivalling WWE.

Jericho responded to the speculation in typical form:-

As Meltzer has pointed out, it's impossible to read too much until this until The Elite make their futures known. WWE could conceivably make them a big cash offer in January, but while much of what Powell and SESoops are reporting is baseless, it can't be ruled out entirely.
