@WrestlePurists on X (via PWInsider) helped break the news that Sami Callihan has been released by TNA. That came as a surprise to the man himself. He followed up with a post of his own - according to Sami, he figured the company was only calling him to offer a spot on the creative team.

Nope, they were telling him the ride was over.

Fightful Select has since shed more light on all of this. According to their write up, Callihan was "a well liked agent and a producer" behind the scenes, and various members of the roster had been pushing for him to land a spot in creative "for months".

So, it seems Sami's own confidence in that wasn't misplaced. Many backstage in TNA thought he'd surely get a look in as part of the writing staff. Since retiring (Callihan's last match was a 'Baltimore Street Fight' loss to Mike Santana at Emergence on 15 August last year), Sami has been working mainly in the marketing department, and is understood to be responsible for designing and knocking up a lot of TNA merchandise recently.

That means it's even more shocking that he's been cut loose so suddenly. Clearly, given his own X post about the situation, Callihan wasn't expecting this at all. He has, however, encouraged fans to check out his company Pro Wrestling Revolver. That's where his focus shifts to now.

This news will catch a few people off guard in TNA, that's for sure, especially if they thought Sami was about to become a key part of the creative team.
