Sami Zayn Wants SummerSlam Match With WWE Hall Of Famer
Sami Zayn steps up his fight for an unlikely SummerSlam match with this WWE legend...
Sami Zayn's revelation that he wanted to wrestle X-Pac at WWE SummerSlam 2019 has led to Sean Waltman opening the door to the possibility of facing the former El Generico at the 2022 event.
Responding to a clip of him hitting Waltman (as The 1-2-3 Kid) with a Brainbustah!!!!! while wrestling the WWE legend at CHIKARA's King of Trios 2011 event, Zayn revealed that he'd pitched working Sean two SummerSlams ago:-
I asked if I could wrestle him at Summerslam two years ago.@TheRealXPac, that is. Not the other guy. https://t.co/6nca8NgzD2

This drew a positive response from the former D-Generation X man, who says health reasons prevented him from working SummerSlam 2019. Now that they're in the rearview, he's open to the idea next year:-
I had a few health/injury issues that needed addressing at that time. Now that I've taken care of them, there's always next #SummerSlam...if that's something people want to see. #wwe https://t.co/Vi4EDorGEO

Waltman last wrestled in April 2019, when he competed on the WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow as part of WrestleMania 35 weekend. He underwent surgery to repair ACL, MCL, and meniscus issues that he had been dealing with since 2007 or 2008 this past January.
Zayn is yet to respond to Waltman's 2022 challenge.
This month saw X-Pac become a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, as he was inducted alongside fellow New World Order members Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall. He was already in the HOF as part of D-Generation X.
