Sammy Guevara has uploaded an apology video to his YouTube channel following AEW's decision to suspend the up-and-comer after footage of him making a tasteless, thoughtless joke towards WWE's Sasha Banks in 2016 resurfaced earlier this week.

The 2:21 clip is titled "I'm sorry," and sees Guevara "apologise to anybody I let down, to Sasha, to anybody I hurt with my words."

Sammy announced an indefinite hiatus from social media and YouTube content creation. He said that he has grown a lot over the past four years and that the 2020 version of him would never repeat the comments made in 2016, having developed an understanding of how words can impact people. "Whenever I do come back, I will be better," he said, adding that his sensitivity training will let him become a better version of himself.

Monday saw AEW announce that Guevara would be suspended indefinitely, without pay, and that his salary would be donated to the Women's Center of Jacksonville while he is away. This came following two public apologies on Twitter and a classy, measured response from Banks, who condemned Sammy's behaviour but revealed the two had had an open discussion on what happened.
