Samoa Joe Makes WWE Debut At NXT Takeover Unstoppable
"I am Samoa Joe. I am pro wrestling. And I am now here in NXT!"
PWInsider, Joe's deal with WWE is for NXT right now and that if he's advertised for an independent date then he'll likely be on those shows. There are some indy dates for him that go as far as August 2, so for the next few months at least he'll do some indy shows. He could be on the main WWE roster one day, but for now it's a NXT deal that allows for some indy dates as well. It sounds like it is something where he's not a full timer in WWE, but he'll be at NXT tapings as well as live events assuming they add more to the schedule. It would be a major shock if he's not on WWE's main roster either later this year or early next year. The "Samoa Joe Submission Specialist" shirt that Joe wore is available at WWEShop already and apparently some sizes have already sold out. Needless to say, he's a popular guy and a lot of fans were waiting for this day. He had only been in WWE as enhancement talent before. He was not under contract. After proving himself as a top guy in both Ring of Honor, TNA Wrestling and all over the world, he's finally in WWE. Joe took to Twitter to say that he takes no prisoners and asked if people are ready. Based on the crowd reaction at NXT and the buzz all over social media, it sure seems like the WWE Universe is ready for him. https://twitter.com/SamoaJoe/status/601213926664237056 After the event was over, Joe did a promo that WWE put on their website and on Youtube. His final words were emphatic: "So consider this your warning. I am Samoa Joe. I am pro wrestling. And I am now here in NXT!" What's next for Joe in WWE? We'll find out soon because WWE tapes NXT tonight and Joe will likely be there to start his journey in WWE. What did you think about his debut and future in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
The rumours existed for months ever since the day Samoa Joe left TNA Wrestling. When is he going to WWE? While there was no confirmation from WWE and Triple H even said yesterday that he barely talked to Joe, we finally got an answer last night as Samoa Joe debuted in WWE at NXT Takeover Unstoppable. He's using the Samoa Joe name too. No name change for him, which is smart. He's a known commodity, so he should be using that name. Kevin Owens defended the NXT Title in the main event of the show. Zayn was on fire and looking dominant when Owens took control with a massive Powerbomb against the side of the ring. Zayn sold it like he was in a lot of pain due to his previous shoulder injury. Officials and doctors tended to Zayn. Owens kept attacking. NXT GM William Regal tried to stop Owens, but he knocked him down too. It was at that point when a new song started to play and a face familiar to wrestling fans showed up. It was Samoa Joe. The fans in Orlando reacted very positively to him as they chanted "Joe" repeated and some even did the familiar "Joe's gonna kill you" chant too. Then he went face to face with Kevin Owens. They didn't fight. They just stared. Owens backed away with his title while Joe showed the the world that he had the respect of a guy like Owens. The fight will have to wait for another time.
