Seth Rollins Announces WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Entry
"The Architect" has plans on January 29.
Hours before the start of Raw on Monday, Seth Rollins took to Twitter to officially announce that he would be competing in the 2017 Royal Rumble match.
Rollins is a two-time WWE Champion, having won the title at WrestleMania 31 and at Money in the Bank 2016 - and pinning Roman Reigns both times. He turned face in September and spent the next couple of months trying to win the Universal Title from Kevin Owens, but ultimately failed thanks to repeated interference from Chris Jericho.
This year's Rumble will mark just the second time Rollins competes in the match. In 2014, he was the second man in the bout and lasted nearly 50 minutes before being eliminated by then-Shield ally Roman Reigns. In 2015, he came up short in a title match at the event, and last year, he was suffering from an injury that kept him from competing.
The 2017 Royal Rumble airs live on the WWE Network on January 29 at 8:00 PM ET. Also confirmed for the titular bout are Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods, Braun Strowman, Chris Jericho, and Baron Corbin.
