Shawn Michaels To Ref Drew McIntyre vs Adam Cole NXT Title Match In San Antonio
'HBK' officiates Drew McIntyre vs. Adam Cole on November 17th.
Shawn Michaels will officially return to a WWE ring as a special guest referee on November 17th, the company have announced.
'HBK' will officiate an NXT Championship match between champion Drew McIntyre and his challenger, Adam Cole, at a house show at the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio, Texas. The event takes place the night before NXT TakeOver: War Games, where the Scotsman is currently set to defend his title against Andrade 'Cien' Almas.
While Michaels' appointment came completely out of the blue, the event does take place in his hometown, and his presence should guarantee massive attention. Ring Of Honor already have a show in San Antonio that night, and 'HBK' was likely added to the card so that NXT could trump them in the head-to-head battle.
McIntyre vs. Cole was eventually pencilled in to headline TakeOver, but this was cancelled with the decision to revive War Games as a stipulation. The November 18th event will now see Cole team with his Undisputed Era allies Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly to face Sanity (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, and Killian Dain), and an Authors Of Pain/Roderick Strong trio in the titular match.
