Shelton Benjamin Cleared For In-Ring Return
Star's shoulder is fully healed.
Shelton Benjamin tweeted on Thursday that he has been cleared to return to the ring following nine months on the shelf with a shoulder injury.
According to the Wrestling Observer, though, there's no word on his official WWE comeback, which was first hyped last July.
Benjamin first debuted for WWE in late 2002, coming up from Ohio Valley Wrestling where he formed a successful tag team with Brock Lesnar. On the Smackdown brand, Benjamin and Charlie Haas formed Team Angle (and later, The World's Greatest Tag Team), multiple-time WWE Tag Team Champions who dominated the division. In 2004, Benjamin was moved to Raw, and immediately turned face with a major win over Triple H. He would capture the Intercontinental Title three times before re-forming his team with Haas.
Benjamin was released in 2010 but continued working. After the WWE brand split last year, rumors began to swirl that the company was reaching out to alumni to return, and Benjamin was among those in whom WWE was interested.
Unfortunately, after his first hype vignette aired, it was discovered that he was working with a torn rotator cuff and would need surgery before he could compete.
