Shocking Title Change On AEW Dynamite
"A new day has dawned in AEW tonight, and what will the future hold?"
Brodie Lee sensationally squashed Cody to become the new AEW TNT Champion on tonight's episode of Dynamite.
The match wasn't anything close to competitive. This was a brutal, one-sided mauling of a franchise player the likes of which American wrestling hasn't seen since Brock Lesnar murdered John Cena at WWE SummerSlam 2014, only shorter. Lee crushed 'The American Nightmare' in just a few minutes.
Cody came out the starting blocks hot, looking to put Lee on the backfoot immediately. This backfired. Catastrophically. A lopsided pounding followed, and Brodie was the one swinging the hammer, beating Cody up with a stiff, nasty onslaught inside the ring and out, eventually pinning him with the Discus Lariat.
A stunning victory for Lee, who ended Cody's reign after 91 days and eight successful defences, scoring The Dark Order its first piece of AEW gold.
Cody was loaded onto a gurney and taken out on a stretcher. A furious, snarling Lee spat venom at Tony Schiavone in the ring, before him and the Order went after Cody, laying out Arn Anderson in the process. Brandi Rhodes dashed out to lay on her downed husband but was immediately choked out by Anna Jay.
The Dark Order has been redeemed.
