Matt Sydal returns to AEW to headline a special Late Night Dynamite show scheduled for next Tuesday evening (22 September), with Shawn Spears serving as his opponent.

This show was filmed to cover for potential scheduling snafus in the event of NBA playoff coverage forcing Dynamite off its regular Wednesday night slot last night. The Los Angeles Lakers defeating the Houston Rockets in five games meant this wasn't the case, so AEW is now airing the hour-long show originally intended for this Thursday (today) on Tuesday instead.

Sydal debuted for AEW as the Joker in All Out's Casino Battle Royale, though it was an unfortunate start for the former Evan Bourne, who slipped on the top rope while attempting a Shooting Star Press. Nonetheless, he gets a shot to impress against Spears.

Two other matches have also been confirmed for the card. Recent Dark standout Ben Carter returns for a bout with Scorpio Sky, having impressed against Ricky Starks a few weeks ago, while the Brandi Rhodes vs. Anna Jay feud will seemingly conclude as they go one on one. This stems from Jay choking Brandi out as Rhodes tended to her husband, Cody, following Brodie Lee's TNT Title win.
