Meltzer, drawing on the idea that most if not all championships will be defended on the night, also speculates that Ali might now revisit his pursuit of Shinsuke Nakamura's Intercontinental Title. Additionally, WWE have announced that the King Of The Ring final will be decided on the night.

Rollins Vs. Strowman is interesting; WWE is reportedly 'desperate' to get Rollins over as a babyface, a strategy Strowman might compromise - unless a heel turn is imminent. The Strowman character could benefit from a refresh. Regardless, Rollins worked superbly against another monster in Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Even a diminished return of that match should materialise as something worthy.

Kingston Vs. Orton is not interesting. The molasses-slow SummerSlam match bored fans, and the f*ck finish pissed them off. WWE undid the stellar build on the night, and we know now that the in-ring dynamic cannot match it. Reigns Vs. Bryan is effectively guaranteed to be superb, but the major (/ludicrous) storyline surely demands a Hell In A Cell blowoff, necessitating a non-finish here. The New Day Vs. The Revival, meanwhile, is another potential banger.

Thus far avoiding a slew of SummerSlam rematches, this rumoured card is consistent with the tentatively promising, fresher direction.
