WWE legend "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is somewhat of a beer aficionado. If you've ever listened to his podcast, The Steve Austin Show, you have heard him comment on his favorite craft beers, which are usually IPAs (India Pale Ales). It would only make sense that a man who was famous for guzzling beers after his wrestling matches would get in on the beer industry one day. With the recent boom in craft beers, it didn't take long for one of these microbreweries to seek out Austin for an endorsement. And of course, Austin's first official beer is an IPA. El Segundo Brewing announced on Wednesday that they are launching "Broken Skull IPA." The Los Angeles, California based brewery says Austin describes the beer as "one kick ass beer." Austin wasn't just a spectator in the creation of this beer; El Seguno says that Austin collaborated with the brewers to create what "Stone Cold" deems the ultimate IPA. He met personally with the brewery's founder, Rob Croxall, and described the characteristics he likes in a good IPA. Following the meeting, Croxall put a recipe together that features Cascade, Chinook, and Citra hops. According to El Segundo Brewing:
"The finish is wonderful with hops fading quickly and a polite bitterness that trails off easily. This is the ultimate IPA designed for the working man and woman who love great beer. The work is done. Time to enjoy a cold one."
El Segundo will officially launch the beer on November 13 at their brewery in California. Austin will be on-hand for the event, pouring beers behind the bar for patrons from 1:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are required and can be obtained at http://tinyurl.com/brokenskull.
