Steve Austin's WWE Wrestlemania Return Won't Happen Next Year

As a follow-up to our earlier post, Wrestling Observer reports that three main event matches for Wrestlemania 28 are 'locked in' and they include John Cena vs. The Rock in the main event, a mystery match (probably a title match) and The Undertaker vs. an unknown opponent. It's being reported that The Undertaker's program is for a 'big' match. We have previously speculated on who that opponent could be but if the match is locked in, it sure does hint that The Undertaker's opponent is already somebody in the company. One of the three WWE main event Wrestlemania 28 matches will not include Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar. As we have thought before, the WWE believe they have The Rock secured as the big marquee star for this year's Wrestlemania and they wouldn't want to bring back Austin for his first match since 2003 without it being the big match. That probably means an Austin return match will happen at Wrestlemania 29 or 30 and Austin is keen on the idea of getting back into the ring if the opponent is right. Brock Lesnar and CM Punk are spoken of the most. He has said in the past that he would want Punk to be a major heel to wrestle him in a match and as it's Punk's time to be over as a huge face right now, we are some months/a year away from that. As far as Lesnar goes, it could happen but there's more stumbling blocks to get that to work and it all depends on how much Lesnar is making outside of wrestling. Austin seems to prefer the idea of wrestling Lesnar as it's more of a money match.
