It's not yet known exactly what capacity Sting will allegedly return in but reportedly he could make an appearance as early as tonight's WWE Royal Rumble 2020 show from Houston, Texas.

Although not confirmed, PWInsider's source does note that Sting COULD return for a singles match at the Saudi Arabia pay-per-view, following in the footsteps of Shawn Michaels who also made an unlikely in-ring return after years of retirement for a big pay-day. The website also notes that his return is not expected to be setting up the ultimate dream match vs. The Undertaker.

WWE Hall of Famer Sting has not wrestled for almost four and a half years, last competing at WWE Night Of Champions 2015 in the main event World Title match against Seth Rollins. That night Sting suffered a neck injury from a Powerbomb spot onto the turnbuckle that ended his 30 year wrestling career.

Sting last appeared on WWE TV on February 25th, 2019, just one month before his 60th birthday at the 70th birthday celebration of Ric Flair. It's interesting to note that Ric Flair is rumoured to be backstage at tonight's WWE Royal Rumble 2020 and perhaps could be involved in Sting's return.
