Has cinematic wrestling already jumped the shark?

The Viking Raiders and Street Profits were supposed to contest the Raw Tag Team Championships at WWE Backlash 2020 last night.

This didn't happen. Instead, the two teams were caught brawling in the parking lot when their bout was supposed to be taking place, fleeing inside the Performance Center after accidentally damaging Braun Strowman's car. Cheesy music started playing and the cinematic experience was officially underway.

A comedy bout even stranger than Money in the Bank 2020 played out, featuring Erik threatening the Profits with an actual axe, Ivar crushing Montez Fords' nuts with a bowling ball, a gang of motorcycle ninjas led by Akira Tozawa showing up to spoil the party, and more. Ivar summoned a turkey leg through sheer force of will at one point, the meat seemingly powering him up. Later, he hit a flip dive into a massive dumpster onto the other three wrestlers, all of whom were exhausted.

The brawl concluded with a big scary bin monster chasing the wrestlers out of the skip. Not a word of that is made up.

An insane series of events crammed with potential memes, this was, at the very least, perversely entertaining.
