Surprise Legend Appears On WWE SmackDown; Sets Up Match Next Week!
Calgary didn't expect to see this WWE Hall Of Famer announce a match on SmackDown!
Edge was a surprise guest in Calgary on this week's episode of SmackDown. The WWE legend was originally scheduled for an appearance in Toronto next week, but dropped by Alberta to say hello and line up what he'll be doing elsewhere.
The 'Rated-R Superstar' then handpicked real-life pal Sheamus as his latest opponent. Together, the pair explained that an incident whilst downhill biking several years ago set wheels in motion for Edge's in-ring return at the 2020 Royal Rumble. So, as Edge recalled, Sheamus is a major reason why he was able to launch a comeback in the first place.
WWE did their best to tell the tale quickly and give context to what should be a hot match in-ring. This will be Edge's first showing since beating Grayson Waller on the 7 July SmackDown, and only his third scrap since working inside Hell In A Cell vs. Finn Bálor at WrestleMania 39 earlier this year.
Sheamus and Edge will be motivated to produce one of those bangers everyone was talking about for a while. There's certainly no reason why they can't have a TV classic.
