Last night's special Fyter Fest episode of AEW Dynamite featured two title matches, one of which yielded a surprising change.
Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee prevailed in a three-team battle for the AEW World Tag Team Championships, toppling now-former champions The Young Bucks and Team Taz's Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks in the main event. It was a propulsive, high-octane encounter as expected, and worked at a blistering space, with immaculately-constructed highspots layered one after the other, highlighting each wrestler's prodigious talents.
But while enough drama was generated to make a victory for any of the three teams believable, Swerve In Our Glory prevailed after Strickland's Swerve Stomp on Starks. This came seconds after Lee had hit one of his stunning flip-dives onto a pile of human beings on the outside.
The Young Bucks' second AEW World Tag Team Title reign ended at 28 days. This is Lee and Strickland's first championship of any variety in the promotion and may serve as an important story beat, given their recent break-up teases.
Wardlow successfully defended his TNT Championship against Orange Cassidy in Fyter Fest's other gold-lined match, prevailing after a single powerbomb in the opener.
