This report thankfully says that the Funker is doing well and is in isolation at his Amarillo, Texas home. The belief is that the one-time NWA Worlds Champion contracted COVID after recently attending a church service.

Words like ‘legend’ and ‘icon’ really do get thrown around far too easily these days, but there are few people in the wrestling business as deserving of such monikers as Terry Funk.

In a career that began back in 1965, Funk went on to become a big-time player in the likes of Western States Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Florida, All Japan Pro Wrestling, ECW, WWE and of course in the brutal, bloody, bone crunching realm of IWA Japan.

Last year saw Terry have to pull out of appearing at New York City’s Big Event Convention due to health issues, with his body said to be in extreme pain due to the decades and decades of taking bumps. In fact, the 76-year-old Funk has yet to technically retire – his most recent match taking place in 2017.
