Gore underwent a process of desensitization that started in the Attitude Era and continued through the Ruthless Aggression Era. But blood has become so rare in today's PG era, that the audience is shocked when it gets a glimpse of it.
This Extreme Rules match was Brock's PPV re-debut since returning from the UFC, and it featured both Cena and Lesnar bleeding the hard way - that is, opening each other up with punches and elbows instead of with blades.
The match was one of Cena's and Brock's best, and it finished with an incredible spot, when a crimson-masked Cena delivered an Attitude Adjustment onto the steel steps.
