Why did WWE go from a 68,000-seater building to one holding 25,000?
As announced in an official WWE press release this weekend, November 2nd's Crown Jewel pay-per-view has been downgraded from the 68,000-seater King Fahd International Stadium to the King Saud University Stadium, which holds 25,000.
Though it was widely speculated that this was down to poor ticket sales, this may not be the case. Ringside News are reporting that WWE were forced to shift their next Saudi Arabian show due to construction at the original venue on the given date, and NoDQ.com have corroborated this, noting that two football matches have been moved for the exact same reason.
This helps explain the move, but that WWE were able to switch to a much smaller venue with minimal fuss suggests that tickets aren't shifting as fast as they did for April's Greatest Royal Rumble. Not that Vince McMahon and co. will care, given the huge financial windfall they're set to make.
As of last night's Raw, Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar, WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Daniel Bryan, and D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels and Triple H) vs. The Brothers Of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane) have all been confirmed for the event.
