The Real Reason WWE Granted The Revival's Release
How The Revival became The Revolt.
With the former Revival now finally out of WWE and seemingly AEW bound, new details have emerged over the WWE releases of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.
Courtesy of Fightful Select, part of the reason that WWE let both Dawson and Wilder out of their contracts when they did – and, it’s worth noting, without enforcing a 90-day no compete clause - was due to the multiple-time Tag Team Champions agreeing to hand over several trademarks that they’d filed for with their own money.
If you remember, Dawson’s contract was originally due to expire in April, while Wilder’s deal was up in June. On top of that, WWE reportedly planned to tack on additional months to Dawson’s contract due to time out injured.
Earlier this week, WWE filed an opposition on the Say Yeah, Top Guys, Shatter Machine, #FTRKO, and No Flips, Just Fists trademarks.
Since being granted their WWE release on April 10, Scott Dawson is now Dax Harwood, Dash Wilder is Cash Wheeler, and the tandem are collectively known as the Revolt. Given how the ominous FTR letters appeared on this week’s Being the Elite, it seems like only a matter of time before the Revolt – as in, the best tag team on the planet – turn up to crack some skulls in All Elite Wrestling.
