The Rock has revealed that his daughter Simone Johnson became the youngest signing in WWE history after she penned terms with the company aged just 16. In doing so, Johnson broke the longstanding record of Teddy Hart, who signed a developmental deal with the WWE at 18 back in 1998.

The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment discussed his daughter's pro wrestling ambitions in a videolink interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon earlier this week. He explained that although WWE only made the announcement of Simone's signing in February, she has actually been contracted to the company and training for over a year:

"She ended up being the youngest signee in the history of the company. At 16, by the way, she’s 18 now, at 16, she was working her ass off quietly under the radar, in the ring, getting thrown around and all the bumps and bruises that come with pro wrestling. She hung in there, and I’m very, very proud of her."

Rock also noted that while he is immensely proud of his daughter for also going into the wrestling business, he looks forward to create her own legacy inside the squared circle.

"What an honour that my daughter wants to follow in my footsteps. More importantly, follow in my footsteps sounds cliche. She actually wants to create and blaze her own path, which is so important."

Though she may be the youngest signing in company history, Simone still cannot usurp Nicholas Cone as the youngest champion in WWE after he won the Raw Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 34 at just 10 years old. Youngest female champion, however, is still within the realms of possibility.
