22. Kane…Wins Lita’s Heart? (2004)

This travesty was one of the worst angles WWE has ever committed to tape. Lord only knows what they were thinking by casting Kane as a "babyface" after forcibly impregnating Lita then forcing her to marry him on top of that, but that was the story. Similarly, heck only knows why someone thought putting Lita on the line as a prize for some SummerSlam match was the way to go.

'It was a different time'. Get out of here with that rubbish. This was shockingly ill-advised even back in 2004.

However, live on PPV, Kane beat Matt Hardy in a ‘Till Death Do Us Part’ match to earn the right to wed Lita. It only developed further into one of WWE’s most offensively crude stories - one which eventually, and nonsensically, led to Kane becoming a babyface rapist.

Diva Dodgeball on the same show gets a lot of hate, but this was worse. Way worse. No amount of women's division silliness could match the fact that one of the locker room's top stars was about to become personal property of the 'Big Red Machine'. Everybody was tasked with rolling along and accepting the idea like it was the most normal thing in the world.

This entire plot line was, without hyperbole, one of the most sickening things the promotion played around with this century. It wasn't fun in a 'oh that's crap but endearing' kind of way. It was downright tasteless, and this was just the tip of the iceberg. Argh! What were they even thinking?!
