The WWE Superstar You Never Thought Would Leave... Is Leaving

So is it possible? Could Edge really make the jump in place of FTR and Christian coming the other way?

Yes, is the short and simplest answer, and evidence of a little bit of buried planning from the four might be between the lines of this tweet two years ago;

Before Christian even arrived in AEW, Dax was setting something up with the probable knowledge that he was on his way. Intel he may have acquired from Edge himself. As his latter podcasts alluded to, he doesn't mean this. Both Harwood and Cash Wheeler live close to him and helped him train for his Royal Rumble 2020 return. If the four were talking then, whose to say they're not now? Particularly if contracts allow.

The difference, of course, is in the 'Rated-R Superstar' himself. In February 2021, he was preparing for a WrestleMania headline slot after winning the Royal Rumble. AEW wasn't really of interest let alone much of an option. When he concludes his business with Finn Bálor at this year's show of shows, he could potentially conclude things outright. If All Elite Wrestling is preparing to say goodbye to Sting, imagine if they could just slot Edge right in his space as the party match legend.

In the form he's currently in, who's to doubt the master match architect and "ultimate opportunist" constructing his next (and/or last?) classic?
